New to ME, that is! LOL I happened to hit JoAnn's at the perfect time because not only was I armed with a fist full of coupons this weekend... they had a TON of stuff on sale at really good markdowns! I was excited because this is the chance I had been waiting for! The chance to try new things!!!

Have you ever seen something made by someone else and you're just in complete awe by the beauty?

Or seen something with about a GAZILLION tiny pieces in it and thought to yourself, "good grief?! I could never do that!"

Well, that's sort of how I have been feeling about some of these gorgeous quilt patterns I keep drooling over! A few nights ago I found an awesome tutorial on the 'Lil Twister pattern and WOW!!! Talk about SUPER EASY!!! *I'll share that link as soon as I can find it again! Click HERE for awesome tutorial!

Of course, this 'Lil Twister is a 'lil elusive! I've never seen this template anywhere so where did I go to get it? EBAY of course! All I did was type in "quilt supplies" and VOILA!! There it was! With a pretty little "Buy Me Now" button right beside it! lol The price was right so I hit that button! Now this was Sunday evening... I was supposed to be "watching" the football game but who can watch a stinking football game when your team isn't playing?! I can't!! lol anyways.... like I said, that was Sunday evening and here it is.... Wednesday.... and my 'Lil Twister is in my mailbox!!! Just waiting for me to use it! And use it, I did!!!

I've been playing with pinks and greens for about a week now so I figured I'd keep right on going with that theme!

Here's my version of a 'Lil Twister.....

I've been making placemats for my kitchen in the pinks & greens so I'm thinking this will be going in the center of my table! : )

Last night I was playing with these little hexagon pieces... you know, the ones we're supposed to measure our fabric around, cut it out, then run a basting stitch around it, then iron it, then attempt to dig that little plactic piece out! Yea, well.... it didn't go exactly as planned! I tried to follow the instructions! Honestly, I did! But when it got to the point where I was supposed to dig out that little plastic hexagon... it just wasn't happening! I couldn't get it out! I used the little stick-thingy that comes with the shapes and well.......... that was a joke! I'm sorry to say but that was one of my LEAST favorite pieces to create! So I got the bright idea to use the shapes to cut out my pieces but instead of standing on my head to get them un-done I decided to use them for pressing purposes and that seems to work pretty well for me!

Here are a few that I did last night. I'm in the process of making quilts for each of my 2 lovely nieces and their little brother. Hope, the oldest, loves the color yellow so hers will be in shades of yellow. Megan, the middle one, loves the color pink... guess what color her's is going to be?! lol So what I've been doing is trying out all these new quilt patterns and making two of everything.... one in PINK and one in YELLOW.... these are definately going into the girls quilts!

These next two blocks are also going into the girls quilts! It's the same pattern as the 'Lil Twister but on a larger version! The actual size of the finished square is 13".

Hannah is my sons girlfriend and we think the world of her! She lives across the hay field so if I ever wonder where my son is when he's not home or not working.... I know right where to find him! lol

I have been trying out new things using my scraps and this is what I've come up with so far.....

I started by stitching odds and ends together to make a decent sized piece of fabric. I decided I wanted to try doing something with triangles so that's where the green came in. So if you look at the other half of those squares, you'll see all the different scraps I used to make those squares.

There is no pattern to this - just me, my imagination and lots of scraps to utilize! lol

Hannah likes pinks and greens to that's where the color scheme comes from but other than that... it's just quilt-as-I-go! I'm planning on giving this to her for her graduation in May so I need to get back to work!

Such a Proud Momma!

I'm so proud of my daughter! She makes an effort to "try" whatever I'm doing or making at the time.... whether it's scrapbooking... painting... cooking... quilting... but her patience and attention sometimes runs short and she loses interest. LOL She's 18... a Senior in high school, an Honor Student, works a part-time job, has a boyfriend and is active in various sports.... so she's a pretty busy girl! We went shopping out by Pittsburgh about three-weeks before Christmas and of course we hit up the giant JoAnn's in Greensburg! I could have spent all day there! LOL I had a mission and a fist-full of coupons! I was in search of the camo fabric for my son's Christmas quilt and my daughter was just looking around, waiting on me to get done. She was asking me questions about quilting and while I was trying to explain some things to her, we came across some packets of "BOM's" that were on clearance sale. She fell in love with the colors and asked if I would mind if she tried it. Well, HELLO?!?! I was thrilled! This was one more thing we could share! She was all pumped to do this! I showed her how to hand-sew the pieces and to work at keeping the stitches small and in a straight line. She did really well with it. But..... like most things that are tiny and time-consuming..... she put it aside and forgot about it.

Well, this morning I finally decided I was sick of looking at it laying on my scrapbooking table and asked her what she was going to do with it or did she just want me to finish it and be done with it? Nope. SHE was going to finish it!! I offered to show her how to use my new sewing machine..... *cringe*..... lol I turned the speed down, wound a bobbin and showed her what to do. She took off from there! She would stitch a seam and then go press (or "set" ) it. The whole time I'm just smiling and loving every minute of this! Yes, she had to tear out a few seams and wasn't happy about it but once she realized that you can't just slap it together and that you really had to take your time and line up the seams and keep your stitching consistant and even... she kept that momentum going and actually finished it!!! And it's BEAUTIFUL!!!

When we picked up the BOM packet we also got an extra blue & green FQ because the actual finished square was only 8 inches. The red printed fabric in the corners was from my stash but the red was a perfect match to the red square in the center. I should mention that the BOM packet had pieces for TWO 8 inch blocks so she made both and used them to make a pillow.

I think she did a fabulous job on this and I couldn't be more proud of her and her first quilting project! She just need to hand-stitch the bottom closed and it will completed!

Lots Going On...

I've been working on so many different projects in the last few days... plus working my full-time job... I keep asking my husband if he could win the lottery so I could quit my job... that way I can just craft & create all day and all night! lol he just laughs! grrr!

I don't have any pics to upload yet but I will in a few more days.

I knew that I couldn't wait a year to finish this quilt! lol There's no way! I'm way too impatient! Well, because of that "lovely trait" I now have to re-do my two January BOM's! Plus, I have to start all over with fabric selection! ugh?! Oh well, I do it to myself!

Anyways, here it is! Here's my Wonky Quilt - as a tribute to the Pittsburgh Steelers!

All that's left is the layering, quilting & binding and then it's ready for me to use!!

Craftsy Block Of the Month #2

As promised... here's the 2nd block for the month of January over at the CRAFTSY site. The instructor is the awesome Amy Gibson and if you would like to check out her personal website just click on her name! I promise you won't be disappointed!

None of us that are signed up for Amy's class over at Craftsy are sure what our BOM Quilts are going to look like in the end and because I'm somewhat of an impatient person I think I'm going to create another set of these blocks for the BOM project and then just keep going with the "wonky" blocks I've started and get this Steelers Quilt finished! I have a few ideas up my sleeve for some other crazy blocks and I'm looking forward to wrapping up in it while I watch the Steelers roll into the Super Bowl and go for that extra ring!

Here's a shot of both blocks together ~ Amy will be assigning two blocks per month and truth be told, she could assign two a week! They are so easy - and that makes it fun! Let's face it, quilting can be a little intimidating! But with Amy's instruction, it's more fun than not!

I came to the conclusion some time ago that quilting is a lot like scrapbooking.... there's no right way or wrong way! But rather, your own interpretation of whatever you're creating! Join us if you'd like! It's FREE.... it's FUN.... and you will LEARN so much!

Craftsy Block Of the Month!

I recently found this craft site and I have to admit - I LOVE IT!!!! It's so inspiring! The site offers various courses and I found a "Block Of the Month" course that is being taught by none other than the amazing Amy Gibson - she is definately a fresh inspiration! I've been ckecking out her site and everything she creates is absolutely beautiful! She makes it seem so easy, too!

Each month there will be two blocks to make so to see the craft site for the "Block Of the Month" just click *HERE* In the meantime, I'm going to share my very first "Block Of the Month" with you - keep the laughter down to a minimum! lol I've spent 3 days just trying to decide what fabric I wanted to use and I finally decided that I was going to use the Black & Yellow fabric I've been collecting - actually, everytime I see something in those colors in the remnant bin I grab it right up! Yes, I'm a STEELERS FAN and this is my tribute to the Pittsburgh Steelers! It will be going with me everytime I go to the Steelers Training Camp and stand in line for hours just to meet the players!

So here it is.......... Block #1...........

Happy New Year to all my friends & family! May you be blessed beyond your wildest dreams in 2012!

As usual, we got together with some very dear friends for New Year's Eve and we always have a good time with them! Laughing and catching up on all the things that transpired during the outgoing year!

I've been feeling a lot better physically than I was a few months ago so that means I'll be getting a LOT of projects completed that I started at various times! I'm looking forward to it! In 2012 you will be seeing a lot of completed goodies that I have stashed away in my room! Quilts... scrapbooking items... cards...

I'm not sure if I'm off to a good start or not though! lol I'm having an allergy attack and it's really irritating me.... drippy nose... itchy throat... sneezing... not how I want to start my new year! lol oh well! If I count my blessings they far out-weigh any allergy attack I can have! So bring it on! 2012... I'm looking forward to all you have instore for me!!

Paper or Fabric.... I {love} to play with SCRAPS!!! My husband asked me this morning if "my room" is now a quilting room... well, one side is! lol the other side is reserved for scrapbooking and cardmaking ~ or whatever else I'm working on!

Much like my addiction to scrapbooking and paper and adhesive and all those gorgeous embellishments ... I am also addicted to buttons and fabric and thread and creating! lol

I know where these addictions come from... and I have no intention of giving them up! hahaha! I can remember spending a lot of time with my great-grandmother when I was a child. She taught me how to "darn" a sock, sew on a button, shuffle cards (and play a few card games!) and crochet. She even got down on the floor with me and taught me how to play jacks! These weren't ordinary jacks.... she kept a little rubber ball for me to play with but our jacks were made out of buttons! She was so creative! I miss her and think of her often!

It was 12:30am this morning... but I actually got it finished in time for Christmas!!! I'm so excited! Now granted, it's not perfect.... but it's completed and ready to give! : )

Here's my son's quilt he asked for.... three weeks ago for Christmas! lol

The top and bottom have the same camoflauge sashing - he's pretty tall so it had to be long enough to cover him from head to toe (as per his request! lol) - I used the 2 1/2" strips I already had cut for this because I knew I was running out of time to make anymore of the hexagons. He loves it so I'm happy!

I wanted to do the quilting in "meandering".... but if you look closely you can see that I "meandered" a little to tight so it's "loopy" all over! lol

I'm excited to have it finished and he's excited to have it!

Camo Quilt

Two weeks ago my son finally tells me what I can get him for Christmas ~ he asked me to make him a quilt! He's 23 years old and 6'4"... so you know this has to be a big quilt... not a lap quilt or a throw!

No Pressure! lol

Anyways, I decided I could do this! *yikes* I mean, my Christmas shopping is already done and I have a few cookies already baked so what else is there to do? Hahahaha! Yea, right?! Well, let's see.... I realized Wednesday morning that #1 I totally forgot to do any Chirstmas cards! #2 My tree isn't even up yet! #3 I don't have anything wrapped yet!

I have been in my "craft room" (it should truly be declared a disaster zone!) cutting and sewing like a crazy woman since Sunday morning!! It took me a couple days to get everything gathered up for this project because like any normal young man his age...... he asked for it to be done in CAMOFLAUGE! Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find camoflauge material that you can make into a quilt?! Everything was either t-shirt material or fleece! I started picking up fat-quarters (since JoAnn's had them on sale! *YAY*) in greens and browns just incase I couldn't get my chubby little fingers on any camo fabric! Well, I managed to get enough fabric and camo fabric to get started.

I have half of the top already assembled and will be finishing that this evening so I can start basting and quilting tomorrow morning! I have already pre-warned my husband NOT to make any plans for me this weekend because I just don't have the time to do anything until I get this done! And one way or another....... my son will be getting his camoflauge quilt for Christmas 2011 !!!!

I found this pattern in a magazine I recently bought and although that one was done in bright colors (and it's beautiful!) when I seen it I knew that was the pattern I was going to be using! It's really pretty simple. Rather than trying to post all the directions, I'm just going to share the link...

Well, I need to get back to work...... I'm forced to work a full-time job so I can afford to CREATE!!!! lol I will definately try to post a few pics once it's fully completed but until then....... HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!!

Who Knew?!?!

... that a little patch could change your life?!   hahaha!

Seriously! I started wearing a "patch" about 2 months ago and it's honestly been a life saver!

About 8 years ago I started having trouble with my legs and feet hurting and my joints being inflamed. I went to the dr and he said "arthritis" and prescribed some meds. It was only a few days after starting the meds that they started making me sick so I went back to the dr and he sent me to a Rheumatologist. They were treating me with some really terrible meds for about a year but nothing was working so I stopped taking them.   After a year or so I went to another dr... he bascially told me I was on my own. So for the last 5 years I've been eating Tylenol Arthritis like it's chocolate!!!

By the time the spring rolled around my hands, elbows, shoulders, back & hips were really starting to bother me as well. I was absolutely miserable. This summer I could barely walk. It was months till the inflammation went down and I could get something on my feet besides flipflops. I decided to see another dr. This one was a foot & ankle specialist and is the Chief physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was very honest with me when he said he didn't think he could treat me because what I had wasn't anything that he deals with... but he wanted to send me to see a colleague that would be able to help me... he wanted to send me to the Lupus Foundation. I was supposed to call and set up an appointment and keep him posted on the progress.

I couldn't wrap my head around the whole Lupus thing. I just couldn't do it. So I did some research on the internet and looked at the meds they use to treat this... and what I found out was even if I did have Lupus I couldn't take the meds because I'm allergic to them!

This prompted me to make a time-line of all the physical issues I've been having over the last 15 years and believe it or not.... almost everything could be linked to a severe complete deficiency of estrogen!   I had to have a complete hysterctomy about a year after my daughter was born.... she just turned 18 the beginning of this month... so yea, it's been a while since I've taken any HRT's (hormone replacement therapy). I took them for a few years but then took myself off of them because of the side-effects.

Obviously, when this became evident I had my family dr make me an appointment at MaGee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh and let me tell ya something!!!   The dr I seen was wonderful!! And I'm feeling soooo much better! So much of the joint pain has gone away! I do have arthritis (which I knew) but I obviously do NOT have LUPUS! wooohooooo!!!!

My kids and hubby think it's funny that I wear this but believe me.... they love me so much more since I've started wearing it!!! lol

Since I've been feeling better I've been trying to get some of the things done that I started a few years ago... hopefully I can get these projects done so I can start some new ones!!! lol

I've been creating.... just not paper-crafts! I've been playing with fabrics & my sewing machine... this Spring by daughter "volunteered" me to make some lap quilts... 5 of them to be exact! Her boyfriends father passed away unexpectedly (it'll be 2 yrs ago this November) and his mother saved all of his clothes in hopes of one day having them made into "Memory Quilts" for each of their kids. So that's what I've been doing... sewing all these quilts so they are ready for Christmas.

Since I've been doing all this sewing I have been playing around with some other quilting ideas that I would like to do... or maybe I should just finish the ones I started a couple years ago first! lol I started at photo quilt for my mom and also a yo-yo quilt... and another quilt that I was making for my daughter for when she graduates! They are all started... they just need finished! lol

OH! I'm going to a crop in two weeks and really looking forward to it! It's a 2 day crop and I already know what I'm going to take to work on! My daughters prom pictures from this past April! I've already bought the paper that I want to use and the pics are printed so now I just need to get them done! : ) I'm looking forward to going! I haven't scrapped in months!!!

Well.... the title of this post says it all! lol Since the end of April I've not made one darned thing! Nothing! ZIP! Zilch! a big 'ol goose egg! "0"! My daughter just asked me when I was going to get her Prom pictures done........ really?! Can't she see that I'm in some sort of "funk"?! lol I have no idea what's happened to my creativity! I know it will return....... eventually! lol I hope!

In the mean time tho.... I have been super busy with work! So much so, that I feel as if I'm there 24/7.... my work schedule has changed a little - I go in earlier and stay later! I'm starting to feel a little like I'm slowly burning out.... I hate that feeling! Till I get home at night I'm thoroughly exhausted and in bed by 9pm - and sound asleep as soon as I hit the pillow! *sigh*

Anyways, hopefully soon I'll get my "creativness" back and be able to make something that I can actually post! In the mean time, I hope the rest of you are busy creating!

This is one of those projects I woke up during the night dreaming about! lol Yesterday I had to change a picture frame that was broke - but I couldn't throw it away! It was a cheap Dollar Store frame but it still had such potential!

It's a 5x7 frame - the outside edge measures 6x8 - I cut two pieces of chipboard and adhered them together to make the back sturdier. I covered the front side with patterned paper and just began adding all the various elements!

I used "Country Life" and "George" to make this shadow box!

These flowers are so easy to make! This is where "George" came in! I cut a circle at 3inches for each flower - used a pencil to lightly draw a spiral on the back side and used that as a guide to cut the cirlce into a spiral. Starting with the very outter edge of where I began cutting the spiral I starting rolling it - trying to keep the bottom side fairly even - when I get close to the end I put a little hot-glue on the bottom-side of the rolled spiral and the last bit of spiral just overlaps the bottom. I dug these little pearl beads out of my button jar and hot-glued them in the centers.

This is the flower at the top but I wanted you to see the little crocheted circles under the flower! A few years ago my husband and I were at an auction and I bought this giant barrel of crafting stuff - when I got it home and emptied the barrel, I found a lot of little "extras"! Someone had crochted all these little flowers and so I finally decided I would use some of them! These particular goodies were perfect for this project!

The lace and the little pink ribbon roses down the right-side of the pic were from my stash. The "ADORE" card was in my stash too. I used my scissors to distress the edge of the card and then inked it with brown ink.

The banner and "LOVE" are from "Country Life". So is the "U". The "U" is cut at 2 inches. The banner is cut at 2 inches and the letters are 1 inch The "&" symbol is from "George" and is also 1 inch. All the buttons are from my stash.

This pic is to help show the depth of the project. By putting a larger back on the frame, it opens up the inside of frame to use as a small shadow box. This is going in my daughter's room!

I have altered a lot of different things but this is the first time I have done one of these! It was super easy and super fun! I think I'll be making more of these for gifts!

It's always difficult to come up with a card for a guy!

But, I think this will do just fine! lol Or so I hope!

This was a special request card - I was asked to make something with a "deer or fish" on it!

I used the "Camp Out" cartridge

The trees are cut at 4 1/4 inches wide

and the deer is cut at 3 3/4 inches

The blue patterned paper is from DCWV "Guy" stack

all the other paper is Bazzill cardstock

The Bestest Fat-Free Chocolate Cupcake w Peanut Butter Icing....

I used the free "Smiley" cart that Cricut gave to Gypsy owners a few months back. It's the first time I've used that cart and I have to say, it's got some pretty cute stuff on it!

I used the shadow at 5 3/4 inches - copied & flipped it - then welded the two together with a small rectangle. I cut 2 individual shadows - one for the inside of the card and the other to be used as the actual shadow for the front of the card. The only "layers" to this was the "top" of the cupcake and then there is a layer of "sprinkles".... I decided that I didn't want sprinkles on my cupcake! I like them on my ice cream instead! lol

The "top" of the cupcake just cuts the shape .... I added the swirls on my own and just used a little SU chalk on them along with my white Gelly Roll pen.

haha! I told you it was fat-free!!

Up Bright 'n Early!!

Seriously, have you ever been startled awake with the thought.... "Crap?! I over slept!" So you jump out of bed and start racing around........ only to realize that it's SUNDAY morning...... NOT MONDAY MORNING! lol And of course, when you finally look at the clock, it's 6:30 am!!!

Well, that was me this morning! So, what did I do since I was WIDE AWAKE?! I made more cards!!!! lol Usually, Sunday mornings are busy with getting ready for church and trying to get out the door on time. But this weekend is a little different... my daughter, Stacie, is leaving Monday morning at 3am for FBLA State Competition. You may remember last year when she competed in this.... she took FIRST PLACE in Public Speaking! So this year, she's going back for Public Speaking II. She started getting her things ready to be packed in her suitcase because it has to be at the school around noon - only she won't be able to take it because she has to work today - good thing I {love} her so much! lol Then to top it off, our phone rang before 8 am.... it was McDonald's.. wanting her to come in 2 hours earlier than scheduled! So she is working 10 - 5 today and I'm left delivering her luggage! lol

After yesterdays personal card-marathon.... my mind was racing with all the things I could do for Easter cards! Yep!!! You guessed it! I'm making my Easter cards today!

The "recipe" for this card is the same as the "Ewe are so Sweet" card... with the following changes..... the bunny is cut from Easter 2010 cart at 2 1/4 inches.... and the inner-scalloped circle is also cut from the Easter 2010 cart.... the grass is also from the Easter 2010 cart.

PS ~ Tami, I've used 4 more strips (2 seprerate cards!) of my honey-comb paper so now I'm down to 4! lol

Last card for the night...

LOL! This is my last card for the day! I've been in my scrap room since 8:30 this morning and it's been {GREAT!} I've had all day to play and it's been awesome!

There is no recipe for this card because.... this Pooh was cut so long ago.... like, I'm talking at least a year or so ago! lol Every now and again, I will cut something that just won't work with what I'm doing so I file them away until I can figure out another use for it!

Anywhoooo! Here's my 2nd Pooh card for the day! Enjoy!

"Ewe" are so sweet!

OMGoodness! I {love} this card!!! Ok, so if you read any of my earlier posts from today, you know that I cut an entire 12 x 12 sheet of "honey comb" looking paper into 1 inch strips and only used 2 of those strips... which meant that I had 10 more to use! Well, I only used 2 for this card so now I'm down to 8! lol I will use them!

I've been asked to post the "recipes" for my cards..... ie; cut sizes, etc.... so here goes!

On my Gypsy, I welded two 5 1/2 inch scalloped circles from the Mini Monograms cart. To weld these, I added a small rectangle between the two of them and that also provided the "fold" for the top of the card. I cut another 5 1/2 inch scalloped circle out of this awesome pink cardstock that I got from the "Rustic" DCWV stack. I absolutely {love} this stack of paper! The colors are so rich! Next, I cut a 4 inch circle (and a black shadow) and zig-zagged it with my sewing machine. I got the "Ewe" from the Country Life cart and that is cut at 3 inches. The fence is also from Country Life cart.

of course, I used my SU chalks to shade the Ewe...

and my white Gelly Roll pen to highlight the fence a little...

I added the brown ribbon to the top to cover the white rectangle I used to connect the scalloped circles...

My son's girlfriend, Hannah, was the inspiration for this card. The girl has about a GAZILLION pairs of shoes and every now and again she will wear her polka dotted goulashes down to our house. They are the cutest things!

Butterfly Card

I wanted to do something "Springy" even though it's snowing outside! It would seem that Mother Nature likes "April Fool's Jokes"! lol This card was made completely from scraps in my scrap-bin! I love being able to utilize some of the smaller pieces for stuff like this.

Winnie The Pooh!

So what's Disney without some Winnie The Pooh?! Everybody {loves} Pooh! I used my Gypsy to weld "Pooh" and Pooh to each other! lol Then I welded them inside a cut-out for a card front. Similar to the Chesshire Cat card, I used the shadow feature for the base of these cuts then cut a shadow in black to use as the actual shadow. I also used my SU chalks to give Pooh a little shading.

For the paper-ribbon, I found this paper in a stack that I have and as soon as I seen it, it made me think of honey-combs! I cut the entire sheet into 1-inch strips (even though I only used 2 of them!) and then just folded and stitched!

I'm Hooked!

Ok, so I have these Disney carts for my Cricuts and after working on the LO for last weekends Disney Pixar Blog Hop.... I {LOVE} these carts even more! The Disney Classic is quickly moving to the top of my "favs" list! lol The cuts on this cartridge are so cute! It's definately a "must" if you were a Disney fan as a child...... and FYI... my fav character was "Thumper"! I still have my stuffed Thumper from 30 yrs ago! lol just sayin'!

Although I haven't made any cuts of Thumper yet, I did make this cute (or maybe it's more hilarious!) Chesshire Cat card! Every time I look at it, I start laughing! I can't help myself! It reminds me of the commercial that's out.... the one where the dogs have this ginormous cheesy grin and they have these huge bright-white teeth! Is it for dent-a-bone.... or something like that? IDK! But that commercial cracks me up everytime I see it!

I'm a huge fan of the SU Chalks! I got my first set a few years ago and I love that I can use them on my cards and LO's! They bring out an incredible amount of detail just by adding a little "shading"! Then of course, you can see the "highlights" done with the "Gelly Roll" white pen.

Using my Gypsy, I welded two shadows together (after flipping one!) to make the base of the card. I was a little worried that the card wouldn't "sit" because the bottom portion is rounded but as you can see it sits perfectly! After cutting the card-base, I cut another shadow (in black) to use as the actual shadow for the card itself. Then I just added all the smiling facial pieces of this crazy cat!

What's not to {LOVE} about a crazy smiling cat?! LOL

Hugs & Kisses "Z-fold" Card

My friend, Melissa at Disney Dreamer Designs, was a Guest Desiger for the "So Saturday Challenge" and she made an awesome z-fold card! I {loved} everything about it so I "scrap-lifted" her design and this is what I created!

I started by marking my paper at 6" on one side then 4 1/2" on the other - placing it in my paper cutter with those markings lined up with the blade. After cutting the paper, the left side was 4 1/2" tall while the right side was 6" tall. I placed 2 folds which then form the "Z" shape that was requested for this challenge.

The large pink flower on the front of the card was one of those pretty bunches of flowers you buy at Michaels.... and yes, I tore them apart for the flowers themselves! LOL Same with the small white flower in the center! The charm/tag hanging from the flower-center says "hugs & kisses".

The scalloped edge along the top of the card was punched using the MS "Treading Water" punch while the "I Love You" ribbon was purchased at Michael's from the $1 bin about 2 yrs ago!

The pink-patterned paper is from "K & Company"... Jubilee Pink & Blue Ornate

The crackled paper is from "Paper Pizazz".... Crackle

Wedding Card

Once again, my son comes to me and asks for a card! lol

Another one of his buddies is getting married later today and I've

been asked to make a card.

I used Wedding & Don Juan for this and my Gypsy and created this card....

yes.... it's lavender and brown.....

I like how it turned out!

The brown and lavender papers are Bazzill cardstock

and the background paper is from DCWV Be Mine stack

I cut two of the Bride 'n Groom and layered them with pop-dots

and done the same for the "Mr & Mrs" banner

Flower Recipe....

I found this recipe years ago! It's a little messy but it's fun to make and use and the results are beautiful!

1 slice of white bread

**remove the crust from the entire slice and tear into small pieces

1 tablespoon Elmer's Glue

Stir glue and bread together - being sure to cover all the bread with the glue.

Once all the pieces of bread are covered in glue, keep stirring it - don't be alarmed if it seems to want to crumble... keep stirring and it will begin to form into a dough. At this point, you will need to work the dough with your hands.... it should be very soft and pliable.

This is when you want to consider adding one or two drops of paint to give the dough color. I have seperated the dough into 4 parts and made each part a different color depending on the project.

Keep in mind, this recipe makes a considerable amount of dough if you are making tiny roses or other tiny flowers.

To make the roses.... just pull small - pea - size pieces of dough and roll into tiny balls

Press between thumb and fore-finger until thin, edges will be delicate - lightly roll this first press ball and "peel" the edges back slightly

For each "petal" you just roll into a ball and press like the first one - only you don't roll it.... you wrap it around the rolled center piece and keep doing this until it's the size you want.... gently peel back the edges of each petal as you add it.

Place a piece of waxed-paper on a cookie sheet and add the flowers as they are done. Just set the cookie sheet in a dry location - somewhere out of way - and in a day or two your flowers will be dried and ready to use!

I'm thinking about doing a video for this.... if I do it will be posted sometime this weekend!

65th Anniversary Card

This was a simple card to make. I wanted it to be "soft"...

not so loud and bold.... and I think I managed to achieve that! : )

The button-paper I bought at a yard-sale last summer - it's slightly textured

The tickets are just stamps that I stamped and cut out

The flowers - I'm not sure where I got those but they were "pre-glittered"

I just added the button-centers with some hot-glue

The little pink roses are from way-back-when! I made those for my sisters bridal-shower.... 14 yrs ago! They are made from a slice of bread and Elmer's glue! (I'll share the recipe in another post!)

I just used my MS Branch punch to give it a little "greenery"

The inside sentiment reads....

"Marriage is a relationship in which

one person is always right and the

other is the husband"

Ok! So I couldn't resist making it a little funny! After all, it was for my Grandparents 65th Wedding Anniversary!

This is something that I have been thinking about for months and just finally got around to starting it! I really hate it when I do that! lol And yes, this is all stuff that I have had sitting in my scraproom... patiently waiting to be used! About a year or so ago, Michaels had all these little chipboard albums for a $1... so of course everytime I would go to Michaels I would buy a few because I just knew that I would use them for something! lol Anyways! That's a whole other story!!!

BUTTONS!!! I {LOVE} BUTTONS!!! I have JARS of them all through my house and yes, they are sorted by color!!! Just like my paper scraps! hahaha! at least the ones I use for creating are sorted by color!

I covered the chipboard with patterned paper and sanded the edges... then chalked them. The ribbon and lace are also scraps and the little flatback pearls are the last few I had left! : ) I used a collage stamp that I have for the partial background behind the photomat.

This is another "page" for the journal/album.... this was brushed with "Tattered Angels Shimmer" (or whatever it's called!) I stamped it with the "explore & discover" stamp so you can do a little jornaling on the background itself! The bird is stamped on acetate and cut out - it's a stamp I have from a "Stampin' Up" set (and you guess it! I don't remember the name of stamp set! lol). The "branches" the bird is standing on are punched from the MS punch that everybody had to have a year or so ago! lol

The tickets on this page are from a crop that I was at in the fall! Everytime we completed a LO or a card we got to roll the die to see how many tickets we got! The tickets were for door-prize drawings! Obviously, I kept my half of the tickets because like everything else I keep.... I just knew I could use it for something! lol All I did to them was crumple them up and used a nail file on them to make them look worn then I brushed them with the "Tattered Angels Shimmer" stuff that I have! The "LOVE" charm is something else that I found in my room and just glued it fast! The "film strip" is Tim Holtz and I love it! The little pearls that are with the buttons are from a necklace that Stacie had when she was little! It broke so I kept all the little beads and just use them on whatever I'm working on at the time! : )

so this was just a little peak of the journal/album that I'm working on.... I hope to soon have it finished though! Once it's done, I'll post the rest of the pics!

I've been trying to make a serious effort to "use what I have"... guess you could call that my "New Year's Resolution"! lol But before I could do that I had to do some SERIOUS cleaning in my scraproom! I did the cleaning and some much needed re-arranging to make what I have more visible and accessable... so far... so good! lol I even went so far as to clean out my scrap-paper files! Yes, I said files! Each color has it's own file and I file my scraps by color! Do I have a little "OCD"? Yea... I would say I do! lol I only keep scraps if they are big enough to cut something out of them on the Cricut! So all of these cards are made using "scraps" and things that I've had stashed away in my scraproom!

This "Lucky" card is a birthday card for a friends boyfriend... he's Irish and has this giant four-leaf clover tatooed to his side so while I was cleaning my scraproom, I found these clovers I had cut from one of Melissa's cartridges (can't remember for the life of me which cart I used!) for a 4-H LO I was doing for my kids. I cut the "LUCKY" part using my Gypsy and "Mickey Font"! He loved the card! : )

This was one is from the "Groovy" cart (or is it from the "Nifty Fifty" cart?)... I actually cut it too small for the original card I was doing so I used it for a smaller card!

This is the FIRST TIME I used my "Create a Critter" cart! It's so cute! I'll be using it a LOT more!!! The inking was done using Colorbox chalk-ink. I love the colors and again, this was something that I have had for well over a year and never used! They had a bunch of them on sale at ACMoore almost 2 yrs ago just before Easter and I bought one of each color! I can't believe I never used them!

Ok, I can't remember which cart I cut these flowers from but they are cute!

I made several cards like this one... using my "Spellbinders" that I've had for about a year! It's the only set I have but I'll definately be using these a lot more!

So now that I actually cut the cat the right size for my card! lol This was from the.... um.... dang?! which cart is this from? I can't remember if it's from "Nifty Fiftys" or "Groovy"!

I do know this one is cut from the "Forever Young" cart! I used little flatback pearls for her "jewelry" and I had these 6x6 pks of Bazzil card stock {that I LOVE!!!} that I have been using for these cards as well!

This is from the "Country Life" cart! I love this cart too but haven't really used it!

Again, "Country Life" cart! I can't believe that I have all this stuff and don't really use it?! What was I thinking?? lol If you look closely you can see that each piece of the banner is individually tied with cotton string - that was a treat! lol I also used Colorbox chalk-ink to ink the edges of the banner! The only thing I'm not happy about is that I should have used a "dark" cardstock for the "HELLO" letters so you could actually see them!

..... my day to start! Thank goodness no one was hurt! That's the most important thing! However, for the "winner" that decided it was perfectly OK to just stop your car on the road with a whole string of traffic behind you.............. NOT COOL!!!!! Fortunately, we had all just been stopped at a red light... it turned green and we all went.... so I wasn't going full-speed! No damage to the service van that I slid into!

This past week....

.... was sort of interesting.... I love to research my family tree and have gotten together with several other family members that also love to do this... it's interesting to see where we come from. I have binders full of information, photos of people that I have never met but play an important part in my life....

.... but what was interesting about this past week was that we got a phone call last Tuesday evening.... I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer... gotta love that caller id! lol .... anyways, after the caller hung up I listened to the message... it turns out it's one of my father-in-laws cousins that has been trying to track him down for several weeks.... she happened to find our number and called in hopes of having the right Harry Gordon and would we please call her back she was looking for some information about their grandmother....

... I wrote everything down and asked my husband about this lady and he acted like I was crazy! How could I possibly think that HE would know anything about this or even any of his fathers cousins?! So I started to do a little research on my own.... sure enough, I found what she was looking for! I told my husband that he needs to atleast ask his dad about this and see where it goes.... I had to keep asking him for two days if he mentioned it to his dad yet.... and of course he hadn't! So I said I was going to ask him.... and guess what?! He knew exactly who she was!

... yesterday, we went for a drive thru the mountains.... taking in all the beauty of fall! Before going home I asked my husband to stop at the cemetary that we believed his great-grandmother was buried at.... we found her! This led to an exploration of the rest of the small cemetary and we found more family members that he had heard stories of thru the years....

.... so now, I'm really interested in getting MORE info and putting something together for our son... something that he will have to look at and see where HE came from! : )

Fall Crop ~ Michigan!

These albums are the "product" of my weekend away! The first one is made using old CD's that people leave in the rental cars where I work... I use my tin-snips to cut a straight "side" and then once I cover both sides of the CD I use my Bind-It-All to put the holes for the "O Ring" wires!

The second album is for my dog Gunner! He's as much a part of our family as my kids and husband are! LOL Sometimes, I think he actually understands us better than we understand ourselves!

The "pages" in this album are chipboard... I simply "decorated" each page and made it my own! There is a lot of layering in this album!

My favoritest page is the one with the Christmas hat and googly eyes... THAT WERE GIVEN TO ME BY THE AMAZING *MELISSA ALLORE* BECAUSE SHE HAD AN EXTRA SET THAT HER WONDERFUL MOTHER PICKED UP FOR HER!!!! : )

The third album is another CD album.... these are so simple to do! I love them!

2nd Mini for Mini Album DT!

Hello! I hope this finds you all having a fantabulous Monday! The sun is shining here in PA and it's the perfect temp, too! : )

This mini was created using old CD's..... that were damaged and/or non-useable in some way..... they make a great surface for covering and altering! To cut the straight edge on the CD's I use a pair of tin-snips that I have had forever! I made a "pattern" for this so I don't have to keep measuring each CD! LOL

Once each CD is covered, I use my BIA to set the holes for the binding wire.... but I don't bind the mini until I'm done decorating each "page" unless I have a really bulky item like the flower on the front page... that had to be the last thing attached to the album!

It'll be short since I have to work tomorrow morning and then we'll be getting our daughter packed for her trip.... she will be competing in "Public Speaking" at the State level for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) in Hershey! She's been practicing her speech for months and it's really paid off! She's going to do a great job! : ) She'll be back home Wednesday evening... then Thursday night I'll be leaving for a scrapbooking weekend in Michigan! Which I am really looking forward to!!!

I recently submitted some work to try out for a new Design Team (DT) making "Mini Albums"... and I was selected!!!    YAY!!!!    Here is my submission for the first challenge!

     I used my TBBM cart (which is soon going to be retired!) and cut the "tag" @ 5 inches from chipboard.
The paper is from "American Crafts" (their Metropolitan pk that I bought at a discount store for less than $5!)    I added some ribbon, rhinesones & flowers... even used my sewing machine! : )

      Oh!!! And I almost forgot that I used my BIA (Bind It All) for this project....   It arrived the day before I made this "mini" so it was the first time I got to use it! : )

This is a Valentine's Card for my lovely daughter, Stacie!

I used the new "Forever Young" cartridge for this and designed

it on my Gypsy! It was pretty simple to do, really!

Little Purse

I made this on my Gypsy! Cut it out at 12 inches and had to use small eyelets to help reinforce the sides! I used a small cupcake doily for the background - crumpled it up and then inked it. Cut the key at 3 1/2 inches and used a nail file on it to make it look "old" and I cut the "love" at 1 1/2 inches. The flowers are handmade as well... and are pretty simple to make! lol
Added some buttons and a cute red ribbon!

My daughter said that I should fill this with candy for Valentine's Day and give it to her! LOL

Purse Card

This was created using my Gypsy! It's a Purse from my Paisley Cricut cartridge! I stitched the whole way around the purse and also on the "flap" and added a couple of little rhinestones to add a little "bling"! The bow and charm are glued to the "handle" of the purse and the flowers on the front are attached with a large pop-dot.

The second pic is just to give you and idea of the dimension of the card and the last picture is of the inside of the card. It has a pocket for a gift card... which is actually tucked in there!

This is going out with a box of chocolates to a good friend for her birthday! : )

It's kinda hard to believe that I actually took these pictures last Sunday (11.29.09) because this Sunday there was no way I could have done this due to the SNOW! lol It was a beautiful afternoon and yes, I had to "force" my family to go along with this..... but it turned out that we had fun so it was a good thing! lol

I took these out at the old Knisely Covered Bridge

*a little bridge history ~ Built to cross Dunnings Creek on what was the "main road" to Johnstown.

This bridge was built in 1867. It's no longer "drivable" and is privately owned. Bedford County does a "covered bridge brochure" and also has a website - which is linked above - but if you look at both the brochure and the website you will notice that the information is not consistant! I'm not sure why this is!

LOL I don't feel like I'm really getting anything done when I scrap like that!

GYPSY Cupcake Card!

I designed this Cupcake Card on my Gypsy! I was so thrilled last week when they got the welding issue resolved and had a new update available! If you don't own a Gypsy.... you don't know what you're missing!

The third picture shows the inside of the card - I wanted you to see how the cupcake was "suspended" in that open window! It's "welded" at the sides of the "frosting" and all I did was weld a "shadow" of the cupcake into the window and then cut a cupcake at the same size as the "shadow" and attached it to the "shadow" portion. For the "frosting" I used Mini-Monograms and cut several scalloped circles and then attached a "cherry" to the top!

Once again, my son has come to me and asked me to make a card for him... one of his friends is getting married in a few weeks and he asked my son to be one of his groomsmen.... anyways... here's what I came up with....

I used pearl-white paper for the bride & groom - which I cut 3 of to make it more dimensional - I used ivory cardstock to make layers and also put thru my Cuttlebug. The little pearls are flat on one side and come with adhesive already on them. The "Two Hearts One Love" is a stamp that I have had for a while.
